Troubling Trend Continues as Packers Manage Aaron Banks' Knee Injury in Camp
A classic case of load management is keeping the starting left guard from practicing in a full capacity.
GREEN BAY, Wis. — It’s okay to admit that it’s at least a little concerning that the Green Bay Packers feel that they need to manage Aaron Banks’ injured knee before the pads have even come on in training camp.
Banks, the team’s starting left guard a season ago, didn’t pass his physical when he reported to the facility early last week, landing him on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. Granted, it was a short stay—Banks was activated in time for the inaugural practice of the summer on Wednesday.
However, while he’s been cleared to practice, he hasn’t been doing so at full capacity. The 28-year-old has been working under what the Packers call “load management” as he attempts to navigate a pesky knee issue—that was the case again in Sunday’s practice and, according to head coach Matt LaFleur, it’ll continue to be the case moving forward.
