GREEN BAY, Wis. — Don’t overlook Jacob Monk—not only to make the Green Bay Packers’ 53-man roster at the end of the month, but to potentially even push for a starting job.

The former fifth-round pick out of Duke is entering his third season with the Packers, and while he may have little to show for it, he’s doing everything he can to ensure that he doesn’t become an afterthought in what has otherwise been an offensive line undergoing major renovations.

While starting left guard Aaron Banks is hindered by a knee injury that’s impacted his availability throughout training camp and right tackle Zach Bako-Bewele is participating in team drills in a limited capacity, the Packers have had to get creative with how they construct their starting five. That includes allowing Monk the opportunity to compete for one of the starting guard spots.
