GREEN BAY, Wis. — Jordan Love will lead—most of—the Green Bay Packers’ offense into Pittsburgh for the Aug. 13 preseason opener against the Steelers.

Head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed on Tuesday that, as of right now, Love will get the start. How long he’s out there, though, remains up in the air.

“I always have the right to change my mind,” LaFleur said with a smirk.

Love, who is entering his fourth season as the Packers’ starting quarterback, is no stranger to playing in exhibition games. He’s participated in the preseason in some capacity in each of the last five seasons after entering the league as a first-round pick during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Player health and safety were at the forefront of concerns that year, so the league and the NFL Players Association agreed to cancel the preseason schedule entirely.
