GREEN BAY, Wis. — There was no rest for the wicked in Green Bay on Sunday. The Packers diligently constructed what will be known as their initial 53-man roster and announced a flurry of roster cuts, but general manager Brian Gutekunst was active on the trade market, too.
The Packers pulled off three different trades. They sent No. 3 quarterback Kyle McCord to the Miami Dolphins for a 2028 sixth-round pick. Later, they flipped another 2028 sixth-round pick—their own—to the Pittsburgh Steelers for running back Kaleb Johnson. The final trade was a 2028 seventh-round selection going to the Los Angeles Rams for tight end Mark Redman.
The biggest news of the day was the latest development in the Josh Jacobs saga. The 28-year-old was placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List while his May domestic dispute is still being investigated. While on this list, Jacobs can’t practice or attend games, nor will he count toward the 53-man roster.
