GREEN BAY, Wis. — Resiliency will take you a long way.
Luckily for the Green Bay Packers, Matthew Golden is as resilient as they come.
The team’s 2025 first-round pick is in the midst of a breakout campaign after a less-than-stellar rookie season that saw him fail to establish himself as one of their top pass-catchers. He wasn’t buried on the depth chart, but between injuries and a deep rotation of bodies at the wide receiver position, Golden was never on the field long enough to truly become a fixture.
Romeo Doubs departed in free agency, and Dontayvion Wicks was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles, creating a much more streamlined distribution of targets between Golden and his running mate, Christian Watson.
To say the duo has capitalized on that would be an understatement. Watson (538) and Golden (501) rank Nos. 5 and 6 in the league in receiving yards, respectively, through six weeks. They’re one of two receiving tandems in the league to combine for more than 1,000 yards, joining CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens of the Dallas Cowboys, who were mostly held in check in Sunday night’s game at Lambeau Field.
