Special Teams Ace Isaiah McDuffie Blossoming Into a 'Glue Guy' for the Packers
The captain of the Packers' special teams unit is entering Year 6 fresh off a contract extension.
GREEN BAY, Wis. — You can’t put a price on dependability, but the Green Bay Packers almost certainly lucked into a bargain when they signed linebacker and special teams ace Isaiah McDuffie to a contract extension earlier this month.
McDuffie, 27, was nearing the end of the two-year deal he signed with the Packers last spring; 2026 would’ve been his final season under contract. Rather than waiting for it to expire, the Packers got ahead of it. He signed an extension worth $4.85 million—equipped with $1.5 million guaranteed—with the team that will keep him in Green Bay through the 2027 campaign.
All things considered, that’s a minor price to pay for someone that head coach Matt LaFleur refers to as a “glue guy” for the Packers.
“He’s the epitome of what we want everybody to be in this program,” LaFleur said in a press conference before Thursday’s practice. “He loves football, he’s a great teammate, and I just think it speaks to his character—you can’t have enough guys like that.”
